Bone Grafting
Our Bone Grafting Treatment
If your tooth or teeth have suffered from some form of trauma or you need a bone graft for another treatment such as a dental implant, we can successfully borrow bone from another site in your mouth to complete the procedure that you desire. At Sublime Dental®, we can use a variety of techniques and materials to help rebuild a deficient site in your jawbone. We also like to include our patients in the decision-making process before any treatment begins.
About Bone Grafting
We use autogenous bone harvested from your own jaw to minimise trauma, or we can use a synthetic material such as xenograft or allograft to supplement the grafting procedure depending on the situation. In cases of complex deficiencies, we can use bone blocks harvested from other sites of your jaw to provide a stable building block of autogenous bone to repair a defect. Our team bases their decisions on what to use with the help of scientific research and years of experience.
Bone Grafting For Implants
The main use of bone grafting is usually for dental implant treatments, as a successful implant procedure needs a sturdy starting block. As we age, unfortunately our body slowly begins to deteriorate, our jawbone included and therefore, bone grafting is a harmonious way for the implant process to take successfully. If the bone under your gum is not tall enough, wide enough or both, you will require bone grafting before undergoing the implant process. It may take several months for the site to heal before even starting the implant process. Several procedures can be used for bone augmentation and one of our dentists will select one depending on the type, location and number of implants to be used.
