Root Canal Therapy
Our Root Canal Therapy
Do you have a toothache or feel pain in your teeth or jaw? If you’ve noticed that something’s not quite right, you may be in need of a root canal treatment. Root canal therapy is the treatment of an inflamed or infected nerve within a tooth that may be a result of a deep filling, deep decay or trauma. Symptoms that may indicate you may require a root canal treatment are, dull throbbing pain, persistent toothaches, or the presence of an abscess.
About Root Canal Therapy
Root canal therapy is a treatment used to repair or save a badly damaged or infected tooth. To save your tooth, we will remove the damaged area of the tooth, clean and disinfect it, and then seal the area with a crown to help protect the area from the future ingress of bacteria. The common causes of tooth infection are cracked teeth, deep cavities, repeated dental treatment, or previous trauma to the tooth.
What To Expect
There are a number of steps used to identify your individual issue and plan your treatment. First, if we suspect that you may need a root canal, we will X-ray your mouth to examine exactly where the decay is occurring. After your X-ray, we will administer a local anaesthetic to the affected area in preparation to remove the infected pulp. Lastly, we fill the gap with sealant to prevent further damage. It is worth mentioning that previous clients have suggested that a root canal therapy is not as dreadful as first assumptions may imply. In fact, a root canal is no more painful than a dental filling.
